Turbo GSR motor with bad compression worth tuning?
I just did a compression test on my 94 GSR, turbo'd. Got 210psi on the outers, 170+ on the two inner cylinders. Dropped some oil in, got 270psi across the board. So it looks like rings are bad. I have a dyno scheduled in 2 weeks at Church automotive for my Hondata install. I can't build it until next summer. Should I tune it anyway? Or stay FMU and keep the boost down for a while? Thanks for the input.
On the upside, I just put on 3" downpipe back custom exhaust w/3" Magnaflow muffler and flexpipe! Sounds pretty nice, spools nice.

You can do what mase said and go back to stock, or add 20w-50 and some tuning just for saftey until the rebuild.

If it would last till summer, I should be able to afford a complete buildup--sleeved, rods, head, etc. Right now, I'm tapped. The motor has 138,000 miles, been boosted for a while. I don't know how long bad rings last. I have Hondata and 440's to put in, just need a tune to make work. I wonder if I could just use a base map to get by? If the cylinder walls aren't too bad, how much would just rings be to get me by? I can take the head off, I just don't do internal work.
