Well I use to drive my ls turbo 200 miles round trip to work 5 days a week. 94 miles each way. So it was about 1000 miles a week. I boosted around 7-9 psi. I was running the drag kit with aem ems. Never had a problem until I came out to go to lunch and my spot was empty. If you take care of it and have the car properly tuned the motor will last.

I think this has been covered to shit...but either way most cars will last a decent amount of time as long as its tuned good at a conservative hp/torq. What motor/turbo are you gonna be running or are u running? how much power are you looking to get?

btw, whats up chad. Remember me? I talked to u a while back trying to help you repin your aem for another coil driver https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif What ever happened to your car?

OMG you are still around. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif I thought you gave up on honda's. Well after all your help repining the aem and then getting the car started. I hooked up my brand new wideband and tuned it on the way into work. I came out to go to lunh that day and poof my baby was gone. Months of hard work to figure out why it would not run gone. They got everything car laptop, palm, cell phone, new wideband, house keys garage door opener new set of craftsman tools. You name it all gone. They never found it. I got another hatch and been keeping it secret of what is done to it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: Turbo Daily Driver? How many miles, How much Boost, Setup? (underpressure02)

I've been boosted since 8,000k. I now have about 47,000k.
Started off with a JRSC at 6 psi for 18,000 miles then went to 9 psi for about 7,000 miles.
Then went turbo. Been running 6 psi for about 14,000 and just about a week ago I went to 10psi.

Haven't had any problems yet (knocks on wood)

Re: Turbo Daily Driver? How many miles, How much Boost, Setup? (2000GSRT)

I am thinking about buying a turbo kit from a guy around town.
Since my car is my daily driver can I turn the boost off while driving to work??

The turbo the guy has is for the 99-00 Si:

GReddy Part #: 11550022 Model: TD05H-18G

Will this turbo work on a 98 GSR that's in a 93 Cx?

I drive 95% highway to and from work 46 miles both ways. My GSR has been good to me so far 13k with 67k on the motor. I wouldn't upgrade any internals at this time and would of course have the motor tuned and taking care of.

I see a lot of people have had good luck with FI on B series when taking care of the set-up. I'm basically wondering 1) will that turbo above work on my motor 2) With a boost controller can i turn the boost all the way down when not needed?

Thanks for helping a n00b https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

My car is daily driven. Motor almost has 2000 miles on it now. about 750 miles so far boosted running 14psi daily. I'll probably tune for more boost though and only run 10 so it will last a while. Can't decide https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

mine has been boosted for about 10,000 miles but i drive a lot down the hight way my only worrie is the high rpm that a Y1 tranny turns down the highway and the heat that is in the motor i wish there was a 5th gear that would put the motor to sleep on the highway at 75mph. but so far so good the only problem i had was boost creep but a inline pro should fix that.

I really don't know about the turbo b/c I did not look up the part number. But as far as turning off the boost. Once you boost you are not going to not want to boost. But you are only in boost if you are on the gas hard or under load. When just crusing down the street you are not going to be boosting. If that makes any sense.

Yeah, just stay out of throttle and the car will stay in vacuum.

installed at 62.5k now have over 78k. boosting 11psi. just do it right and take care of it and you will be good.

That makes a lot of sense https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Kind of like vtec then. I can ride at 4,800+, but once I start to accelerate HARD vtec kicks in.....

No one knows if that turbo above will work on a GSR?

Why wouldn't it work? As long as you have a b seires manifold to go with that turbo you shouldn't have a problem. Might have to do some minor fabrication to make everything else fit like the dp & IC piping but as far as the turbo fitting yes it does.
