Turbo D16z6/y8 - Base Timing & Ignition problem... please help!
Ok Guys,
I have recently just overhauled my engine due to a leaking head gasket at the end of last year. My Specs are
D16z6 Block, D16y8 head, D15b7 Dizzy, Hondata S300 ECU, APexi 1.1mm head gasket, AEM adjustable cam gear (38 teeth).
When firing the timing light, the ECU displays its base 16 degrees and the timing light displays 30 - and cannot rotate the dizzy back far enough to reach base timing. Rotated the engine to TDC noted the markings on the cam gear resonably line up with the markings on the engine housing ... possible could be half a tooth out.
Could anyone give me a steer in the correct direction to obtaining my base timing... as i know its achievable with this current Dizzy.
Also my car seems to intermittently die on a type of ignition failure. Seem to constantly get a pulse to the Dizzy from the ECU but not always a spark from the plug... could this be also timing related or somthing separate? I have never seen a Dizzy intermittently work.... in my experience they just seem to be healthy or faulty... not both.
Any expert help would be great guys !!
Cheers Guys

Yes, timing was locked in software at base 16 degrees. The balancer marks are in line with the marker on the timing belt cover and the cam gear is in line with the centre line of the engine and also the two indicators on the head.
Before my engine overhaul there was no problem achieving base timing and all same parts have been used. Now the dizzy cannot be rotated back far enough to achieve the base sync timing.... Ideas anyone ?
