Default Turbo D16y8

alright guys.. i decided to turbo the d16y8. Im new to the whole turbo concept . i know the basics but not in depth. What am i going to need? do i have to rebuild the motor? how much $$ am i looking at? what can backfire? i have a 00 civic ex with 113k on the sohc

Some head studs are probably a good idea. Around ~200hp you should be able to get by without rebuilding the engine. If you do you might want to consider getting an aftermarket or ported oil pump, and make sure the holes in the rod bearings are the same size as the holes in the crankshaft (may have to drill them larger) so your getting proper lubrication. Some heat wrap should also help to keep underhood temps down. Bigger radiator isn't a bad idea, and if you remove the ac condenser replace that side with a block off plate / shroud so air doesn't go right around the radiator (or keep the ac and just remove the fan, replacing it with a slimline pusher fan on the other side in between the bumper). water / alky injection should also help ensure the engine lives to see another day.

many off the shelf turbo kits are designed for stock engines.

An EMS, turbo, ex. manifold, charge pipes, (bov, intercooler, wastegate...) look at and read up on other people's setups. good luck
