Turbo on a D16Y5 SOHC VTEC-E?
Yeah, I currently own a 1997 Civic HX M/T (D16Y5) with an AEM intake and Exhaust, and i'm just wondering if the SOHC VTEC-E is any good to modify or to even turbocharge. From wut I've read on H-Tech, some people turbo'd their HX and they got their car from 115hp to 160hp and 164 lbs torque. And if it's possible to turbo a D16Y5, is it worth it to Turbo the Economy VTEC-E and what parts do I need to Turbo it. I'd really appreciate it if u guys helped me out.

I answered your other thread. Dont let the VTEC-E or the Y5 deter you. It is no different than any other D series. Same basic principals. You need the same parts you wouldn need to turbo a Z6 or Y8. What I am doing this time is
HF Manifold with a T3 adapter plate
T3 turbo .42/.48
oil line kit
dsm 450cc injectors with clips and resistor box
2.5" charge pipes
FMIC
2.5" downpipe to 2.5" exhaust
gauges
chipped P28 to run uberdata with datalogging
you will need to convert to 4wire oxygen for the P28
I am sure I am forgetting some stuff. I have a complete list somewhere of everything I have. I turboed my HX last year, so if you have any questions, hit me up

I never dynoed mine although I will this time.
I estimated everything for me to be under 1500 WITH tuning. That is all turbo related things, laptop for datalogging and paying a guy to tune my setup. I pieced mny **** together here and there when I saw a good deal. The only part I really "skimped" on was the manifold. I got an HF, but people have put down good numbers witt those.

yeah, my friend recently told me that forced induction on an SOHC isn't a good thing because it stresses out the engine, and as soon as I hit 30K miles using the turbo, imma need to rebuild the engine and wutever. He thinks that a DOHC B16A Si Swap is better than a turbo set-up

Re: (specv5150)
That whole extra cam in the head offloads so much stress it's crazy.
I duct taped an extra SOHC cam to my SOHC head just to run more boost

i beleive there is a few people who tens of thousands of miles on their cars. Its all in the tuning. You can build your motor but if you dont tune it, teh **** will blow. Likewise, you can have a stock motor, tune it and run good
