turbo D oil feed line on head???

turbo D oil feed line on head???
just wondering why nobody uses the plug on the side of the head (dizzy side). its a 1/8bpt just like the oil pressure sending unit. would save alot of time if theres enough pressure there. anybody ever tried it, using it, or know of a reason not to. sohc vtec if it matters.

its not, it goes directly into the oil gallery of the head. i used some dyed water today to find the flow of it, too bad i dont have a mechanical oil pressure gauge, i could test the psi. even if its for vtec, it wont fluctuate, the rpm of the oil pump controls oil pressure, adding something to the system wont change the pressure dramatically. anyways, just wondering why nobody has ever done it this way. anybody care to hook there oil pressure guage up to the port and test the pressure at idle, and 3k.

no on your ls/vtec the oil comes from the block to the solenoid. i dont think the B's have this plug.

not enough proper oil pressure. that's an open port to the head drainage not to the pressure chamber.
you shoudl consider the endun oil adapter kit that lets you run an oil feedline off the adapter to the turbo w/o any problems. and if you work the big fitting right, you can even use it to install the oil pressure sender unit for an aftermarket oil gauge like I did on mine.

thats what i figured, what adapter are you talking about??? an oil filter sanwich adapter???

solution #2 is for people that dont use the VTEC oil pressure sensor on the SOHC, like OBDO wich have a 1 wire VTEC
to take that sensor off and put the oil feed line there

i was under the impression that until vtec crossover the pressure sensor didnt see pressure at all. doesnt the ecu trigger the solenoid to open then if the pressure sensor reads enough psi it opens, or is there always pressure at the vtec pressure solenoid???

i thought the vtec pressure sensor just monitored oil pressure to make sure vtec could engage safely (which i think is 45 psi). I have it disabled in crome though so i would assume you can tap that

really, that makes more sense, i never thought about it much. what version of crome are you using?? i never seen vtec pressure disable, only coolant and speed???

its a pain in the *** getting to the sending unit on when the oil cooler is still on. just trying to find something easier, shorter oil line, and easier to replace if need be.

I'de have to agree w/ Jago on this one... I don't think there is any pressure there unless you are in VTEC. They did kinna the same thing w/ a B series and toasted a turbo or 2 a while back just to find out that the turbo was only getting oil during VTEC... Not sure if it's the same thing on the D though....

thats correct, i just looked at the solenoid and until the solenoid is activated nothing inside it has psi. the solenoid pushes the plunger down allowing oil to pash from the bottom chamber to the top or the other way around.

i still wish someone would put a mechanical gauge in that blind hole beside the pressure sensor. it doesnt make sense to have an oil drain plugged off externally to me.

not a good place to tap for oil feed..one of my buddie tapped it to a smilar spot on his H22 turbo...the oil pressure fluctuates way too much..smoked his new garret in 2months...not a good place to tap for oil feed..
