Turbo car, Air Conditioning A/C not cold
DC2 with a Greddy Turbo Kit
So summers here and its super hot.
My a/c isn't cold so I took it to a shop. They emptied out all the old freon/air in the system and pumped in new freon, but car a/c is still not cold. No leaks whatsoever.
Guy said he thinks its because my condensor is not getting cooled down enough because of my upgraded radiator. He said its thicker than the stock radiator and my fans are slimmer so its not pulling enough air or whatever through.
I have a fullsize Godspeed Aluminum Radiator and 2 12" slim fans, the one in front of the a/c compressor is not mounted correctly, just kinda shoved in there because it was kind of hitting the wastegate. And one of my a/c lines (low pressure?) is touching my turbine, but still no leaks.
Is it because of the slim fan? the thicker radiator? should i wrap the line touching the turbine? also for those of you with turbo and a/c, is it just colder than regular air, or is it super cold? im trying to get my a/c system to be frosty

like mentioned above WRAP those lines!!! also if you have a/c and turbo that means your downpipe runs next to the a/c compressor..... is your downpipe wrapped with fiberglass????? if your compressor gets too hot it will DEFINITELY cut down the efficiency of the entire system. ask me how i know.....

there are a few things critical in an a/c system, airflow and heat dissipation at the condenser is one of them, no leaks it another, proper refrigerant "level/charge", why did they take ur freon out and put new stuff in, freon doesn't wear out, it can get contaminated with air, water, r12, whathave you. First thing just make sure ur condenser has good airflow its vital to the operation.

Re: (quicksilver1689)
The difference in actually airflow between cheap slim fans and decent slim fans is considerable. Also 12" fans are fairly small, considering you can fit a 14" on most Honda radiators IIRC. You get a LOT more airflow from that extra 2".
Any energy you pass into the AC system is that much more the condensor has to deal with. You need to either heatwrap everything, add reflective sheeths (fiberglass w/foil) on the AC lines, or fab up some heat sheilds. Radiant heat (infrared) can account for a lot of the transfered heat.
BTW they may have noticed that the refridgerant pressure was still high, but not cooling like it should. They probably assumed it was 'contaminated' (mixed), rather than assume the exhaust was transferring too much heat. Take into consideration those AC guys deal with far more mixed refridgerant jobs than turbo'd jobs.
PS if you don't like the heat, move to Wisconsin. It finally hit almost 80* yesterday, and has only been in the 70* for about 1-2 weeks. If I didn't know hell was a hot place, I'd swear this was hell.

can someone tell me which one of these to use exactly
also the condensor is behind my intercooler and in front of the radiator? it gets blocked by the intercooler i think?
