Turbo Boost Controller
Maybe a dumb question but new to the turbo world. I would like to know if it is possible to set the turbo boost controller to zero so that no boost is allowed. Sort of like an off switch. The reason I ask is because I visit family every so often about 200 miles from where I live and would not want to run my boost for 200 miles. So can I set it at zero or so low that it won't boost or what?....let me know what you guys think or what can i do???

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (incognitoracerr)
You cannot boost any less then your wastegate spring with everything hooked up properly. To stay out of boost, stay off the throttle.

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (MayhemSi)
you are only going to boost while accelerating

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (incognitoracerr)
While idling and revving your engine, you don't see it boost. while there is no heavy load boost will not be present.

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (SOHC_power)
What if I maintain a certain constant speed?...will it still boost or will it only boost under high acceleration. I don't want to burn out my engine on a 200 mile trip. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (incognitoracerr)
Don't you have a boost guage? If you go 65-85 crusing in 5th gear you should not be boosting.

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (99GSRT)
Yeah I have a boost guage...I just haven't installed anything yet...its still pretty cold outside so its a good time to do my homework on turbo. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (incognitoracerr)
Boost only happens when theres a certain load on the engine...on the freeway, at a steady contant speed, your car should run like an NA car. As soon as you step on the throttle and create a load on your engine, the sudden rush of exhaust gas will spin the turbine and create boost again...
so if you don't want to boost, then simply don't...just keep the throttle constant. |
Re: Turbo Boost Controller (incognitoracerr)
if you really dont want to drive your car under boost, just take off the charge pipe and put your stock intake back on. or you could use some wire and just wire the wg actuater open. if you have a external gate, just take your gate off. could get messy though. i think you should just drive it how it is, everything will be fine. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: Turbo Boost Controller (ffgeon)
if you take the charge pipe off and drive around you risk damaging your turbo. My friend did this and beat on his car at the same time, this overspun the turbo and he had to have it rebuilt.
on my car if the piping seperates on the freeway, my water temp starts rising. why i'm not sure... but it might have to do with the car operating in a area on my fuel map which is untuned. don't drive around with your turbo charge pipes not hooked up. |
