Which turbo? B20A (3g Prelude)
I've been reading around a lot and trying to figure out wich turbo will best suit my needs....
Needs: Quick spool, internal WG, fairly common (easy to get parts)....
I'm looking to build what would be a stock turbo setup (sorta using DSM's a a guide) only on my 90 prelude.
I bought a T25G off a friend for cheap but the A/R is .80. I guess it's off a CA18DET but with a A/R of .80 i think its too big..thoughts?
only going to be running 6psi on a stock block, honata S200b, FMIC, walbro 255, DSM 390's, custom mani/dp
thanks
Rick

i will also add that i'm looking to be making about 170-180 atw and the car is my daily driver. i won't be autocrossing or 1/4 mile racing in it.

Re: (planeman01)
throw that small turbo away and get a turbonetics t3/t4. u would be good to go. the t25 is a waste of money. u will still get it handed to u with that turbo. u will probably get that hp but any more boost after that would be a waste. my deal is if ur going to do it, do it right the 1st time soe when its time to build everything is there. im running 10 psi daily driven on my t3/t4 stage lll and im fine.

Re: (turbo90lude)
My brother has the B21A and he's planning to go with a t3 super 60, but undecided about .48 or .63 a/r. T3 is very common, internally wastegated and good for your hp range and then some. The low redline of the 3G preludes would suggest a smaller housing. All of the non-vtec motors have a strong midrange. I'd say maximize that. Talk to the guys at http://www.cheapturbo.com They are very friendly and willing to help out with selecting the right turbo.
BTW, just go for 200 whp, you'll be much happier and still be within the safe limits of the stock block.

The fad on this forum seems to be to run a small turbine housing and large compressor and compressor wheel. I've got a hunch that turbo is the opposite of that.
A/R is really best for comparing turbos of the same family since it's a ratio. You really need to get some maps here and look at what the thing flows. I googled for you but couldn't come up with any maps for a T25G.
If I were you, I'd spend $500 or so on the right new turbo. In the grand scheme of a turbo project, $500 is not that much and the right matched turbo means so much.
Too bad you're not closer, I've got a b20a5 lying around I'd make you a smoking deal on.
and don't listen to the guys telling you to go for more HP if you don't want to.
