turbo b20???Any doubts
I have been seeing some turboed b20's,on H-T and I notice they are making pretty good numbers. Any of you guys own a turbo b20,and or opinions about it.Scared of the sleeves cracking.I currently own a turbo b18b1 in a em1 with a precision sc61e turbo.Wondering if its just better to ditch the b18b1 and go with a b20 or keep the b18b1.because of its sleeves Please help thanks.

Re: turbo b20???Any doubts (slodel)
i think after a while every block will give out. a lot of it depends on your tuning and your driving habits and psi. if you want to switch to the b20 because of the bigger bore just do it. youll pick up some more torque. swapping shortblocks is easy you could always switch back if you wanted. just be sure your not throwing in a burnt up block.

Honestly I never finished the car yet,not to mention the people telling me that the turbo, wont spool on the car so I am just think of selling the motor and putting a jdm b20b,But I don't know that's why I'am asking you guys for your opinion.

i think for a stock motor it would be a good decision. you can get b20 blocks cheap to. just decide what you want with that turbo you should be making a good amount of power now, can you even hook up the car as it sits?

Re: turbo b20???Any doubts (Runnerdown)
i had tuned a b20Z(10:1 comp motor) stock from top to bottom, 57 trim, 12 psi.
ran fine for a year, he spun a bearing and swaped the b20 for a b18b, without changing anyhting but the long block....noticable torque loss, turbo comes on later than the b20 did

well IMO i love b18's dunno why always have, anywho if you swap the b20 then you should build the block (rods, pistons..) or you run a chance of blowing it. it's a good motor 2 liter and if you build it, it can be fast

OK I JUST GOT A B20B AND WANT TO GO BOOST. i heard that it is ot that safe due to the thin cylinder walls......i do understand that alot of people say to get a block guard(watever that is) and to get the block sleeved...if i want to run a stock 6-9 psi on a b20b from japan with a p75 head...wat is required for a reliable setup? considering i will be using hondata s300 unit......i dont want to blow my motor... it will be daily driver.....and going LS tranni......the motor has about 30-40k on it boght from ENGINEWORLD in berkley, ca.....

Re: (quicksilver1689)
the b20 is fine... i have had mine for about 8 months now the only thing i have had problems with was heat you need to make sure you get a good radiator so the motor will stay cool... i got 320hp on 10 psi with good old Cali gas that crappy 91 octane.

IMO not the best deal in Ca... maybe in Wisconsin though. But then again the way you've worded that, I'm confused.
If you have a b18b already, the only thing a b20 will get you is a slightly quicker spool, a head that becomes a big restriction earlier due to extra displacement, and sleeves that are more fragile.
If you aren't making 450+ whp with the SC-61, you should consider swapping to a smaller turbo and a bigger MAP sensor. Same 'safe' power, but you get that power earlier. You are also running a turbo at a much more efficient PSI - 9psi and below on a SC-61 is way below the 70% you'd see running even a 57trim at 18psi.
