Turbo b18a questions
Im currently in the process of tubroing my b18a. Im at a crossroad right now, and Im not to sure what to do. My current b18a has just over 200, 000 kilometers (I live in the great white north), and I did a compression test about a week ago. The results were this: 180, 175, 175, 170. The car burns a bit of oil, probably a result of blow-by on the 4th cyclinder, but otherwise it runs ok. Im planing on boosting about 7-8psi on a stock bottom end. Should I swap in a new b18a before boosting, or would this one be ok for the time being? Here are the parts that I am using:
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
Cartech FMU
MSD 6 BTM
Starion Front Mount
1G DSM Bov (Soon to be Greddy Type S)
B&M FPR and Gauge
Garret t3
Full 3" inch exhaust and 2.5" downpipe
Custom made exhaust manifold (Purchased a Sliptfire Performance, a reputable shop around where I live)
I still have some money left over, and I dont know what to do. I want to boost this motor, but Im not sure how long it will last. Any opinions on what I should do with the current motor, and wheter or not I should go along with boosting it? My future plans are to have the block re-sleeved to 2.0L, and to go with eagle rods and crower 8:1 pistons. Any help would be really appreciated!

Re: Turbo b18a questions (g2man)
bump
I'm thinking about boosting the b18a thats in my 90 teg also...
it also burns a little oil... 130,000 miles so definetly needs a bottom build...otherwise, any suggestions on what to boost it with?
TIA

Boost it till you break the pistons, then build it up. If this is your daily driver than you may not want to take my advice.

I dont see a problem why not. You shouldnt boost anymore than 7 on stock injectors, i would suggest dsm 440's. I turbo'd my car with 120k miles and went 12.7 in it. I was running a 1G eclipse BOV and a starion fmic as well. I did blow the motor couple weeks back though. Darton block is going in tomorrow.
By the way, good luck finding crower pistons. What ever pistons you do decide on, make it higher than 8.0:1 -- more like 9.0
