Default Turbo b18 fuel cut issue...help?!?!

Hey everyone new to this forum. Was hoping to get some advice...I have a turbo b18c built and boosted on 21 lbs. At the end of 4th around 7k rpm it just falls on its face, when all other gears go to 8.6k. Idk why it's doing it. Im thinking maybe an overboost issue? Feedback is appreciated!

"Maybe" an overboost issue? Do you not have basic gauges? What does your boost gauge say? What does your wideband say?

You have a turbo build, but don't have basic gauges running at all time? Are you crazy enough to not have the gauges, or are you stupid enough to have the gauges and not pay attention to them?

It's my first turbo car so I'm not really sure what to look for here...chill your jets. I guess running lean it only gets to like 11.5 on the wide band. II'll check for the boost going over 21 tomorrow I suppose?

11.5 is rich, and actually pretty good afr for a turbo car I think. Higher numbers mean leaner mixtures, lower mean richer as its indicating how many parts air:fuel

Really? A full parts list? I could give a **** if he has an aem fuel rail or bdl throttle body.

Ems doesn't matter either.

Falling on its face is a universally used term for losing power.

^^^ I think it is funny you always have something smart to say to want boost or The Shodan, but I never actually see you offer any technical information or advice. Your time would probably be better off spent actually giving some kind of technical information. If you do not need all the information that want boost asked for, then what is your diagnosis? What do you think his problem is?

You must be new here.,

Why do you praise shodan so much? He could sell you a turbo? Yes. What else?

Wantboost is a goof and posts in the middle of the night and is probably tired most the time.

Look at the symptoms. Top of 4th is where his problem is.

Instead of a parts list a datalog would help a ton. That should've been asked first.

Enough power is being lost to where he can feel it. I doubt a component would be the problem. Top of 4th has a much higher load than the rest of the gears.

That's why I ask for spark gap and afr. Could be either lean or rich or spark blow out.

Could also be some kind of heat soak or depending on if he is in open or closed loop could be something simple as an ect sensor reading high and the ecu is retarding timing to protect the motor. Could be a lot of different things but I never suggest removing and replacing parts first. I'm not a salesman.

I never sleep, literally.

I post at night because that's when I do what I do lol.

Love you too... *kisses* lulz

i've never been able to diagnose a car off a general statement.... Falling on it's face does indicate a general loss of power and shitty running but it can be more than one thing or a combination.... a breakdown of the build, parts used, ems, how it was tuned, datalogs, etc. can all help make diagnosing an issue easier. you forget I worked at a large major ATL shop for a long time and have been playing with fast cars since birth.

Yeah its not a engine failure or anything guys, excuse my slang when I used it originally. I just meant it was cutting its self back prematurely from the top of the gear and I didn't know why...it's reading 11-11.5 on the wide band at the top of fourth. I think the previous owner retarded the timing a little to make the 2 step (anti-lag) really loud. Could that be affecting it?

I don't know the spark gap.

and when you guys say data log, is that something you record off of Hondata and share it here??

Sorry if these are dumb questions, I just have all my motor lingo based off of Nissan cars until now. Lol but I like the change...

Also, I believe it's Hondata that's cutting it back. The check engine light flashes when it cuts back. That's Hondata yeah?

Yes, datalog is from hondata. You can pop open the laptop in the car and record your drive, save it as a file, and upload the file for someone to view in hondata

okay i havent recorded a data log yet...BUT i was doing some looking on hondata while my laptop charges for the ride and came upon the discovery that there is a rev limiter you can set for specific gears so you dont have to release the throttle when you shift...idk why the previous owner would of wanted that though, i enjoy the feeling of shifting too much.

Anyways, im going to see if that is an issue before i go take the time to record a data log. Ill keep you guys posted.

Okay guys about to upload the hondata file. Before I do though, i came to the revelation that the issue started to happen after i replaced the boost controller with a boost cellunoid (or however you spell it) so i think it just might be some things that need to be changed in the parameters of hondata, but I'm about to upload it and see what you guys think!!
