Hey my names Ahmed i drive a 1996 slammed Civic on coilovers I am just dropping in this b16a turboed motor in the car and just about finishing up a hopefully will have it running by spring time probably pushing 7-10 psi max dont know yet about the psi any suggestions?! B16a ARP head studs double layer head gasket , engine has been fully regasketed , 440 dsm injectors pretty sure , walbro fuel pump , got msd ignition and msd coil, vtec controller, boost retard , s300 ecu trying to find a basemap tune atm to get her fired up and take her to a dyno when the snow clears up if anyone has any input that would be great looking to find answers about how much boost is safe to run and is meth injection worth running on a stock motor and any answers that you would think is helpful and any other upgrades you think I should run! Thanks

what up
not sure what size turbo your running and psi is meaningless. assuming your motor is stock 350whp is max i would run on that motor. get rid of the vtec controller because your s300 will control all of that jazz. the msd isnt needed, should have stay with the stock stuff. some one else here will chime as well

check make sure your motor is healthy. comression test, leak down test, and check your valve lash. 10psi should keep you in the safe zone. but dont go by psi as stated. dont need the msd or vtec controller, s300 will boss it out

.

Why isn't the msd needed ? & 280 hp would make me happy so hopefully I can get that goal safely but was just curious what psi would be safe but you said it's meaning less also I won't add the vtec controller

Haven't done a compression tester so I should check that out but it sounded and looks pretty healthy

because the stock ignition system can handle up to 500 just fine. also, psi is just a number and doesnt mean anything. 10 psi a t3 super 60 is different than 10 psi on gt35. the only thing you should focus on is hp goal and not the number of psi

Idk. You haven't said anything about the specs of the turbo. So I have no idea what it is. I'm beginning to think you don't full understand what you're getting yourself into.

without knowing what size turbo you have we can't tell you anything.

I can tell it's a t3/t04e but beyond that it could have any wheel combo in it, you won't make more than 3-5psi in 1st gear so traction isn't an issue there, 2nd will spin if you get on it and other than running a sticky tire like an r888 or a dot drag radial you will have traction issues, unless you don't drive like a jackass all the time lol

also don't be shocked when that eBay "twisted ram" turbo manifold cracks... the material is too thin, of low quality and the welds are **** with almost no penetration. they were notorious (as are all eBay tubular manis) for having the wastegate flange break off, sending your wastegate down the road.

I suggest you inspect the manifold regularly for early signs of cracking around every flange. some even had the turbine inlet flange crack clean off the collector.

honestly i got a buddy who is helping me out with the turbo build as he just finished building his turboed e30 fully built 2.9 stroker boosted running meth wasted spark etc,

he also told em the air research is a t3 turbo it looks like an ebay turbo and says that upgrading it would be smart due to ebay turbos not lasting but sometimes you get lucky and they do hes current running a holset hx35

as for the hondata so im better off reverting back to stock distributer and wont need any of the boost retard or vtec controller , ill be getting someone to tune it properly on a dyno and probably run 10psi any info on running meth should i or is it not needed for 10 psi
thanks for the help here are a few pics of my buddys car

hes running an MS2 wasted spark

and it's not a straight t3... it has a t3 turbine side but that is definitely a t04e compressor housing

Would you say that's a decent turbo?
