Turbo on a 100k Civic?
My 95 Civic EX has almost 100,000 miles on it... Would it be a waste to add turbo now or a harm? At what milage should I watch out for all the racing mods I added or want to add?

I would say just turbo it, tune it, and run it until your engine dies. At least you'll have all the stuff you'll need to turbo the new motor after that. IMO if you're even thinking about turboing a Civic, you're not expecting the engine to last forever like a stock engine would.

Do a compression check and go from there. If they are consistent and not too low then you are good to go. If you are due for a major tune up then make sure you do all of those things before going turbo. Water pump, timing belt, replacing all fluids etc. I am 100k+ turbo <--------------------- |

ditto but it's a z6 You may blow a head-gasket in time, other than that, if you do it right you'll be ok. |
Re: Turbo on a 100k Civic?
My D16Y7 had 140K on it when I slapped a turbo it and has been running strong for about 3.5 months now.
A friend boosted his D16A6 with, I think, about 150-160K on the clock. |
Re: Turbo on a 100k Civic? (NOSpeed97)
it just alll depends on how well its been serviced, and what kind of oils have been in it https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif
compression checks can usually tell you the overall condition of the motor, as well as how bad oil is coked inside the cylinder head.... |
Re: Turbo on a 100k Civic? (lazerus)
Just do a compression check. If your not burning considerable amounts of oil or any weird noises coming form your engine then boost away.
My boosted d15b7 has 169k miles |
Re: Turbo on a 100k Civic? (BBailey)

Re: Turbo on a 100k Civic? (BBailey)
I put my turbo on at 85k and I've got like 95K now still running strong. But, I did compression checks often (nitrous before the turbo went on) and I knew my motor was in prestine condition.
