NEVERMIND. I found some good info in a post a few threads down. Thanks for the help guys.


If I'm tuning for pure fuel savings when on the freeway/steady speeds, what a/f should I shoot for (using a wideband)? I'm assuming in the area of 16-22 in/hg, basic steady throttle cruising conditions. I'm at about 14.4-14.7ish now, but I think I've heard I can go a bit leaner and be okay.

Basically to clarify, I"m shooting for 12.5 under boost, around 13.5 under moderate/non-boosted acceleration, and ?(15.0)? for steady state cruising?

fuel economy and good power don't really go together. But havind said that, if you get a goofd A/F ratio, your car should not burn too much gas and it will run very efficiently...12.5 to 13.0 under boost would be my target.

I think I wasn't clear enough first time around. lol I'm only concerned with the fuel economy in the cruising area of the fuel map, I'm going to be sure to run safe for acceleration and boost. I wasn't really clear when I re-read what I had posted. If anyone can help me out with what they're running for their cruising a/f ratios that'd be great.

aim for 14.0 -14.5 on the non-boost portions...I personally would not venture above 14.7, you will be running dangerously lean

The honda engine will very easily operate under cruising conditions with A/F ratios as lean as 15-16:1 without burning up anything.

Best thing to do is put your wideband on a stock vehicle and drive around watching what happens. I think you'd be surprised!

I think from 15:1-16:1 would yield better gas mileage and still be safe as long as you are running high octane (91+). FalconGSR tuned his EMS leaner than 14.7:1 on part throttle with good results.

You should also compensate for the fact that a boosted car runs about 10 to 15% hotter than an NA.....15:1 is nice for an econobox where the temperatures pretty much stay constant and cool, but on boosted, I would want that added insurance of not detonating due to being heat soaked...

At cruise I've had the GSR as lean as 17:1 without lean induced misfire. 18:1 it would usually begin to misfire.

At cruise there is not going to be much of a difference at all.

It's not going to ping at cruise. It might misfire.
