Default Tuning with Aem compared to Hondata s300

I have an aem ems 10-1000 box and i'm trying to tune a little with this and im kinda lost . I hear that hondata is much easier to tune with and comes with some good base maps. I myself haven't tried the hondata but is it anything like the aem or is it easier , i think i went a bit overkill getting the aem right off the bat . ANy comments? My goal is to tune my modded gsr equipped eg and then turbo next summer.

I think AEM is a breeze to tune. Just get into the program and click around a bit, before actually putting it on a car. If you never tuned a car before, don't expect to jump into any tuning system and be able to tune a car. You have to sit down and read all the manuals and what not to understand the system before jumping into it. So I would recommend just taking time to read all the manuals and tips that AEM gives you. AEM is a very powerful tuning tool.

Where in PA are you located? I might be able to help you out if you need it.

it doesn't matter what you are tuning with. fuel and ignition are all the same. if you can tune one, you can tune another.

with aem, it can get a lot more difficult if you start messing with the options. i.e. boost comp

i have aem and love it, yeah some of the stuff is hard to understand but when you figure it out it makes perfect sence. Just dont look at all of the options, get the basics and then play with all the options.

I just cant get the thing to idle , it goes up and down along with the air/fuel and timing as it does this , it even seems to do it when i unplug the iacv. I figured maybe sell this and recoop some money and get the s300 but i dont know what to do yet . Would a burnt up iat sensor make this happen eather?

Tune idle from rich to lean. My car idles at 850RPM to 950RPM at 13:1 with 880cc injectors and Crower 62404 camshafts. Start with an 1100RPM idle. Setup the Idle %. Work your way down to 800RPM adjusting the A:F and Idle % as you go. After you have dialed-in 800RPM to 1100RPM work your way up to 1500RPM adjusting the Idle %. If you still get a surge lower the Idle FB Rate. If the surge still persists adjust the screw on your throttle body so the IACV doesnt have to work as hard. AEMPro isnt hard once you get a lot of seat time with it
