Troubleshooting: B16 turbo has low boost pressure after installation & tuning.Causes?

Hi to all
I would like your opinion about my problem..
i have a B16a darton sleeves 81mm 9.0:1
gt 3582 billet wheel 0.63 a/r
ramhorn
44mm
80mm exhaust
ferrea valvetrain
T1 trigger with stand alone ecu and k20 coils
id 1050

at 13 psi makes 450 hp and when we start go up at 20 psi makes 480 and at 25 psi 475...
for sure is not normal this....
intake temperature was 80 f.
engine is fresh and very healthy.
any idea what happens???

Is this a Garrett 3582?

Yes Garrett 3582 and I have put billet wheel

If the motor is healthy then my first look would be the turbo not being up to par.

Exactly. Just because the compressor wheel used is made of billet grade aluminum, doesn't mean it's going to perform well. You were better offf keeping the turbo stock, if it is truly a Garrett

Did you test for air charge / exhaust leaks?
Its looks that the system uses much more power than its should to keep the asked boost target.
There a rare chance that you hook your wastegate vacccum line before the intercooler and the intercooler is getting maxed on flow/cfm
This way everything works great until you max the intercooler flow THEN it creates wall of restriction and you have like 35psi before the intercooler and 20 psi after it.

Are you sure the guy that did the turbo did a good job?

boost leaks and intercooler test is the second test before try a different turbo.

what fuel are you using?
The fuel alone could be the entire cause of this

5hp loss within a 5psi boost increase.. Think maybe boost ignition correction could be affecting here?

100 Ron fuel.we try different ignition timing with no results...

that might be why. You're at the edge of the knock limit of that fuel.

Does the car have a catalytic converter installed? Cats can be extremely restrictive, especially if they start to clog up

You nearly doubled the boost pressure and only gained 25HP? Something is definitely wrong...

No catalytic converter on the car...
the fuel is just perfect my friend for this set up until 600 hp at this dyno

100 RON is the same as 93 Ron+Mon/2 here in the states. And knock limit on our 93 occurs around 400hp-450hp on most hondas, some reach 475 and blow up soon thereafter

100 Ron here (Europe) is 100ron not like USA

probably yes but why at 13 makes good power???if the turbo was but should make low power at lowest boost.

Yes, I am very aware of that. Which is why I'm glad you stated 100 Ron instead of just saying 100 octane.

The characteristics of USA 93 octane are the same as Europe's 100 octane, because they are exactly the same fuel. Meaning The same power figures apply to you. And is probably the reason you're not gaining any power as you raise the boost. To get over 450hp, you're going to need 105-110 Ron gas.

Not correct....
with 100 octane you can go very far...I have many examples my friend sorry...
my last set up with gt 3076 was 530hp at 26 psi...

Different turbo, and also not experiencing a problem. I don't believe your fuel itself is an issue here. Is it possible? Yes. Is it PROBABLE? No. I'm leaning toward a restriction somehow, somewhere, but that's my thought. I had a similar issue once on an SR engine with the stock turbo. Turns out it was just pushed past its efficiency. Not saying that's your issue, but seems to be turbo related. Again, just my thoughts.

What size intercooler and what type of cams do you have again

Are you sure thats a .63 garrett housing? That behaviour is close to the back pressure
wall from a too small housing. I know tjere isnt a garrett .48 for the gt35 maybe something else?
Just saying.

no balor for sure is 0.63...
maybe this week I will have news...I will try some things about ic and after turbo.

Once again, we'll disagree. Most of my 650whp GT3582Rs run on .63A/R, and no back pressure issues. Difference between theory and actual use
