Laskey Racing.

I'm waiting for a few items yet then hoping to get this thing together quickly.

Well life got in the way, but finally have some time. Working on degreeing the cams right now. Just a test run, actually checking p2v and v2v so figured I would degree the cams too. I'll double check the numbers once the motor is back together.

What I find interesting is (based on the cam gears) the exhaust cam is advanced and the intake cam is at 0 (again on the cam gear). However, the specs from GSC would result in this. Exhaust cam center line is 112 degrees while the intake cam center line is 108 degrees.

Intake:

Mine was off after my build and cam install also. This is what mine look like now with the crank at TDC. If you need help on the process of degreeing let me know, I went through it already

Are you running the GSC T1s too? Just curious because your numbers look exactly like mine. The process is pretty simple once you get the indicators zeroed and setup so they don't catch on the lash adjuster. The numbers were repeatable (I must have repeated it 10 times on each cam). Every time it came up on the right number of crank degrees at full lift/center line. It ended up being easier than I expected.

My biggest thing was my wheel is a 90 degree wheel, a 180 wheel would make it even easier. I just had to make sure to add in the right direction.

‘Mine are skunk2 pro 1’s , but this is a issue I’ve seen popping up more lately for some reason. I went backwards while degreeing mine, I set the lower half to the desired degree then I would loosen the cam gear and spin the inside until I found max lift then repeat on the second gear

Yeah, that's how I did mine when I set them up the first time, went to the center line degree then moved the cam. When I checked multiple times I was comparing the peak lift and the center line.

So you were able to degree your cams so they are in the correct position with the cam gear marks being off? I'm going to have to learn how to do that for my next build.

Absolutely. After talking to a few people I was told to ignore the line on the cam gears. As long as the degree wheel is locked and marked for TDC , then you just spin the engine to the required dregree marks and spin the cam until you find max lift...... I found it way easier to do it that way. My car has never been stronger after I redid mine like that

Yeah, you could degree the cams with gears that have no markings. The only thing that you need is true TDC and max lift of cam. I used a piston stop to find TDC and the indicators in the kit for max lift. Took at most 20 min once I had everything setup.

Interestingly I emailed GSC to see if they thought using the center line or the 0.50" lift method was better. They said to use the center line method.

Thanks! When I built my current setup I had issues with the cam gears not aligning but I didn't degree my cams. Next engine it will be done correctly.

No problem, I went through about a week of grief trying to figure out what to do, I talked with some serious race guys that lined me out

I don't actually know how to do it yet but I somewhat grasp the concept. When the time comes I'll get a degree kit and dig into it.

All you need to degree is this thread -> https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-mo...edown-2003538/

Explains it in very simple terms.

I just degreed my old Skunk2 Tuner 1s just in case I have issues with the GSC T1s (I had a spare set of cam gears which made it super easy). The most time consuming part is setting everything up. Literally took me 10 minutes to degree both of the S2 cams.

Now I'll go back, verify my settings with the GSC cams, then pull the #1 rockers and unlock them before putting it all back together.

That was pretty interesting. I'm going to have to clear a couple of things up before I 100% understand but that will be for another day.

How close to having your engine in the car are you?

I felt the same way and then once I had it set up and stepped through it following that post everything clicked. Now I could do it in my sleep.

If I don't have to go anywhere for work I would guess the motor will be back in the car in the next few weeks. I have most of what I need to put the motor and trans together in hand. The unknown bit is going to be building lines for the oil cooler/turbo coolant, and finishing up the meth injection install. I'm not sure how long some of that will take.

Spent time working on notching the oil pump so I can add a Hall sensor for crank position. Also spent time figuring out a way to brace the turbo.
