so....

im putting the turbo onto the manifold. what lbs or torque is it to put it on the manifold. do you use a washer? what type? what type of bolt?

does it matter or am i just overdoing it..

i think as long as its bolted down then thats good enough.

turbo to manifold - 35-40 ft/lb
turbo to DP - 25-30 ft/lb

We sell the grade 12.9 steel for studs that will not rust or deterioriate with heat and will not collapsed. Just ask for grade 8.8 or 12.9 at your local hardware store.

We includes crush washer and always used a anti-seize on all threads.

do you guys actaully torque everything down?

My buddy thats helping me said its not necessary to torque everthing in thier spec. The only thing that needs to really be torqued down in spec is the head onto the block. he said other than that, nobody really uses torque specs...

is this ok?

Thanks

A LOT of people just go by feel. Once you've worked on cars for a while, you get a feeling for what 10, 20, 30ft-lbs of tourqe is.

As said, head/block is most important to tourqe down properly. For mani/turbo/downpipe all that sheit I just go by feel. Use crushwashwers defintely, they are your friend.

For my full race mani, I had to put nuts on top of the bolts cause they kept backing out of the mani. After I nutted them (hey thats funny!!) they never backed out.

PS....I think mani bolts are 3/8-16 on the full race mani. I called them and they didn't even know at first.

I used torque wrench for everything, even valve cover bolts.

There's a purpose and that's why I am doing it. I have done plenty of motor for personal and customer's block and every single one of them I am still a torquing monsta

I use a torque wrench for everything that I can. Unfortunetly there was no way to use one with my Lovefab SST mani so I had to go by feel. You have to make sure to get them just tight enough to where they won't back off. Keep an eye on them for the first day or two after you get them on to make sure they aren't backing off.
