Default Took my auto civic ex turbo to the track last night...

I was debating on which forum to put this into(drag racing or here in FI) and I decided to put it in here since this post is mostly relating to me improving on my turbo setup....
Anywho, First time out since the turbo. Out of 13 runs this was the best I could do.

60' ... 2.446 (remember this car is automatic)
330 ... 6.610
1/8 ... 9.995
mph ... 72.01
1000 .. 12.938
1/4 ... 15.401
mph ... 91.82

My best 60' of the day was a 2.436 and my best trap was 93.5mph.

Setup on race day:
1994 Civic ex coupe
td05h-14b @ .62 bar(roughly 8.5psi)
afc hack
dsm smic
apexi rs cat-back exhaust with stock cat
(60mm w/ a chambered muffler)
16x7 rota n1rs on 205-40 falken ze502(28psi)
Eibach Sportlines and KYB agx(set @ 1f 8r)
spare and jack removed

Right now my goal is to hit 14s with the automatic(I plan on swapping to a 5spd) Next week I might go again and run on my 14" wheels with a much bigger sidewall(195-60-14), open dp, and hopefully figure out a way to get more air to my ic since my upper ic pipe was hot to the touch. I'm almost positive the car is capable 14s but I feel like there is something about my setup thats holding me back.... disregarding the "automagic" of course. Any suggestions?

I'll give you a tip. At the line, put your foot on the brake, then slowly put you foot to the floor on the gas. Sit there still your stall converter hits it's limit (Probably 2100rpm), and you build up about 5 psi of boost. Then let off the brake and you will have near perfect launches everytime. Launching in boost makes an auto deadly off the line. Good luck!

yea...not bad...i think if you want to be in the 14s range..get a FMIC, atleast a 2.5 mandrel-bent exhaust w/ same diameter cat, and boost 10psi

I have been power braking off the line, by the time I'd go Id be around 3psi. With the right tires I think I can knock that 60' down a little.
Im not going to spend money on level 10 upgrades because if I put any moeny towards a tranny it will be for a five speed Plus I believe that level10's upgrades do not touch the valve bodies which is one of the major weak points with that tranny. Better exhaust will definatley come along with a front mount.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep em comming.

Exactly, that **** is a waste of money, but I would recommend their torque converter, but your doing a tranny swap soon. Not a bad time. On my greddy kit at 6psi i ran a 14.9@95mph by torque braking. It's fun, but you definitely need a front mount and maybe the 15g from the greddy kit.

The intercooler he has is good for about 300hp. Is this with a full interior?

From what I have read the 15g actually flows slightly less cfm then the 14b. The 14b flows 405cfm while the 15g is at around 390cfm

The intercooler I know can be effective as long as I get the proper amount of air to it. I have friends who have seen 12's with these intercoolers in their dsms. I have it sitting where the intake resonator was with the solid parts of that bumper duct cut out. However, I still think that it's suffocating in there a bit. I figure if I opt to move it I might as well get a bigger front mount instead.

This was with a full interior(mius the spare and jack), a/c, ps, and cruise control...so the car isn't exacly light

What did your car weigh in at? My Si weighs in at 2460 with me in it...spare, interior, everything. I'm runnin the Greddy kit with afc hack too. My car is also a 5 speed without a/c so it runs pretty strong for what it is. My best time to date is a 13.72 at 7 psi on drag radials. I'm now running 10 psi but the boost is falling off to 7 psi after 5k rpm's.

You know what I was kicking myself for not weighing the car...I'll remember next time.
13.72 thats an awesome time I hope to touch those times someday :sigh: I see all these turbo sohcs running awesome times and that just gives me more of an incentive to keep going But I guess for what I have right now the times aren't TOO bad. I'm dying to see what a difference a better exhaust, a 5spd, and a front mount will make.

I hate to say it but my friend runs consistant 14.3 with a greddy kit and auto tranny at 7psi.

Do what ELspool said, good advice, that will bring the times down alot after getting good at that.

I have been power braking. I remember reading about your buddy and his times really impressed me. And after running my car they really impress me now lol...much props to him. Do you know what setup the 14.3's were run on?....i.e what kind of tires, type of intercooler, gutted, highflow cat/testpipe, what size exhaust. Also, what kind of 60 fts was he pulling?

I was thinking of upping the boost to 10 for a couple of runs. I know the motor will take it. My timing is retarded at around 2 degrees and I'm also running colder plugs(NGK BCPR7ES-11 ). It was also street tuned on a wideband and maintains a 12.1-12.5 af accross much of the powerband.

test pipe and 2.5 in exhaust would be nice. Just buy the bends and I'll do it for cheap.

Shaking head wondering why someone would go for a b series swap and only get a b16a

But you kow what you like it and thats all that should matter....I don't have to go into details about other turbo d setups on this board and the impressive numbers they have put out because I am sure you have seen them. I have also seen **** poor times on b16a's but I dont use that as a reflection for the performance of a b16a because I have seen an equal amount of good times on a b16a. I'm having a blast messing with my d series and Im sure the same goes for you.

Just remember we are both "wasting our time" to get the most of our fwd hondas.
