didn't you say that you spun a bearing? Look at your crankshaft journals....There should be scratches or grooves cut in to them, then you'll know if spun your bearings...that's what happened to me

what type of oil do you use, Castrol syntec? Just curious

My friend who knows a bit more than I do told me I spun them after he took at look at it. I have no idea why, but I do know that it made a terrible knocking sound whenever I revved it.

As for the oil, I used generic oil. From now on, I'll take better care of it. 20psi, here I come!

reason I asked is that Castrol syntec leaves a haze over everything. But it looked darker than normal, so something got hot - but since you used cheap oil, that explains it. Next time, Mobil dino oil, or valvoline.

did you rent a hoist or did you just take out the tranny, head, then block piecemeal?

Took off the head first, then slid the motor from the side on a cart. Just barely fit.
