Default too low of a spark plug gap, loss of power?

Just wondering from people more experienced on a dyno, have you ever seen a loss of power from too small of a spark plug gap. Assuming I could get the car to idle, what is keeping me from gapping all the way down to .020 and being sure it will never blow out? Has anyone ever tried going lower than .025"?

I run mine at .25, Its rough on ideal but it's what works best for me at the track. Im also re tuning the car on tue so we will see what happens after that and all the timming is played with!
