Tomorrow I am picking up the GSR cams from the machine shop, I took them there to have them check them and to get them micro polished

If you could I would get a 3in seeing how iirc you are going for 400whp...was it on 93 as well?

turbohatch96y7 12-30-2015 07:12 PM

Do yourself a favor and throw away thatbwr cam seal and use an oem one

Yes.. BWR is just no good.. Even if there are good welders for some of the manifolds.

as much i like skunk2 products, you may want to skip those cam gears. theres been issues from slippage to breakage. good ones are golden eagle, toda, old skool aem 3 bolt pattern, and i think buddy club has a nice meaty gear. some of the hardware on those may need replace with something stronger. i just remember if that was skunk2 or another gear when the hardware need replaced.

i think it was the old school 3 bolt aem's that had a bad track record of slipping..

i have a set of sk2 gears and some of the bolt threads stripped out (not the bolts themselves). i drilled them out and tapped them the next size up i just dont remember what it was. no issues since but keep in mind the aluminum is quite soft and most of these gear bolts only require like 6-8ftlbs and some recommend a bit of loctite to keep from slipping

Pretty stuff

Re: Todallybuilt's B20/VTEC Build

if the head and block has been milled you'll need adjustable cam gears

or tear your hair out trying to figure out why it won't line up to tdc

Just have to make sure you have the bolts torqued down properly - I purchased a set of used AEM adjustable cam-gears back in 2009, 6 (going on 7) years, and damn near 600 WHP later, they have not slipped once.

95 4dr dx, that needs a paint job really bad. I plan to have fun with it being a total deceiving sleeper for a few months until I can get it painted.
