Tial wastegate acting up...
Alright, just finished my poor man's low compression itr over my fall break, and now i am getting some funky stuff going on. My Tial wastegate is open at idle and partial throttle, then when boost hits it is closed and boosts alot (hit 18lbs tonight...luckily alcohol injection and low compression saved my ***!). My tial worked perfectly fine with my last couple of engine swaps that it was used on. The only thing i have changed is the vaccum lines running to the top and bottom ports on the wastegate, they are some braided vac line. They seem to be ok, but the behavior of the wastegate points to the bottom port not getting a vaccum source hence opening at idle and partial and closing during boost. I am also using a greddy profec b controller, but to make sure it was not the cause i switched it off during testing. Let me know what you guys think...i am figuring the vac lines, but they dont seem to have a leak (especially the bottom one).

Yeah for the time being i needed to throw another engine combo together, so i figured i'd run a lower compression headgasket and b16a head (8.8:1 comp). The car is still quick, but right now i am glad for low comp or i'd be looking to put another engine back into the car again.

Re: Tial wastegate acting up... (boosted hybrid)
I think you may have switched the lines. If the wastegate is open at idle that suggests vaccum at the top port and as the manifold pressure gets closer to 0 and above into boost the wastegate closes

swap vaccum lines...I think this had happened to Direp972's car before and we were trying to figure in his garage one night...and I think we re-route the vac line and it solved it..
