TiAL diaphram removal
Can someone explain to me how I go about removing the TiAL wastegate diaphram without ripping it? I would appreciate it

lube her up real good with ky, and be gentle on her. she dont like it rough.
just un screw the top. and pull it apart, it should almost "fall" apart.

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (Dturbocivic)
That's about where I am at, lol. I'm going to have to use some grape jelly or something.
I took the top section off Friday but I still can't get the diaphram out from underneath the top that the valve pushes up. The coating company wouldnt even touch it. It's a 44mm.

that thing will rip, replacement piece is entier metal assembly with rubber piece. its possible to separate the rubber piece from metal assembly, but its best to buy the whole thing (i don't think they sell it othewise), to remove it as mentioned before, therea re 4-6 allen screws.

Then how do you get the upper metal assembly off? I know howto take the top part of the wastegate off to get to the spring and top assembly but there is no other allen screws inside.

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (0x64)
I have two people saying you can take the diaphram out and one person saying you cant. I'm confused. I can't get the top assembly off. There is no visible way. I got the diaphram off but it tore slightly. I'm trying to get it back on but I can't I have to buy a new diaphram, again someone saying I cant, but I dont want to tear that one, hah.

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (0x64)
i see, your wastegate is 44mm, if its built similar way as 35/38mm, then after removal of 4-6 screws, that thing pops off, its not like you would break metal by adding a little muscle to it. but i'm unsure if its same way cause i never seen the inside of 44mm
when i ordered the replacement diaphragm for 35/38mm, it was everything assembled together, you simply sit it on top of the valve, and reinstall 4 hex/allen screws w/ blue loctite.

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (vtec.dc2)
I remember it was much easier todo with the TiAL 35mm/38mm. These TiAL 44mm are different I e-mailed TiAL Thursday at noon but nothing yet.
* Ripped diaphram
* Diaphram not going back on
* Valve all the way up

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (vtec.dc2)
o.k.. its possible to loosen up the bottom piece, fit the rubber piece in between and then tighten.. but imo that would be difficult to do.. if you manage, i still don't think they sell just the rubber piece, its possible to patch that one with black silicone gasket maker from permatex and it won't leak but you're better off with new diaphragm assembly

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (coptzer)
sorry to bring back from dead, but i figured it'd be better than starting a new post that people would re-ask questions in. I'm where coptzer shows, but i have the diaphram still in there, and i took out the 4 allen screws and now i can't get any further? i dont want to rip the diaphram, but i've tried using a little force everywhere and nothing is comming appart.
thanks.
thanks.

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (Cyphear)
I lived this and I learned, hahaha. NO FORCE IS NEEDED. You WILL rip the diaphram. If I get home at all early tonight and get my camera back I will take pictures step by step. There are more allen screws. The picture coptzer posted shows four and you can see the other four below.

Re: TiAL diaphram removal (0x64)
Maybe I should take a picture. All I see is the 4 screws, which i removed, on the upper metal piece. Then there is the diaphram that connects upper metal piece to the lower metal piece. then there is just the lower metal piece that connects to the iron or steel valve assembly part. I really dont see anything else that can be taken apart. TIA.
