Room to grow IMO is fine when you are talking about a house with 1 bedroom/bath vs 3 bedroom/2 bath. Not competitive turbo setups IMO. The most common growth around the forums is people selling their setups for different parts.

If you haven't majorly upgraded your ignition or fuel system, don't have a bulletproof tranny that can survive dozens of powershifting passes, or a tranny with a very tight ratio - don't get the GT35. The GT30 from that dyno can overwhelm a single-pump fuel system, and usually 400+ is where you need a better ignition.
I'm sure as a former STI owner, you understand that boost is just a number. I'm actually surprised, since most Subaru people always try to maximize spool/response.

Well put. Dont bother with a 35r unless you're going for 600+whp and the add'l mods hiprofile talks about. With an intake manifold and good cams you can get 550whp out of a 30r

Lol...great analogy by the way. Its true, get a setup that fits your goals today and when the time comes to upgrade, then buy the parts you need. I've built 4 turbo setups on my car and only re-used a few items each time...

Re: TIAL 38 or TIAL 44??
plus the OP said his motor was stock. 400whp is pushing it on a completely stock motor as is. i'd get the gt30r too...this will probably be my next turbo
