Thoughts on using scavenge pumps for low-mounted turbo's oil drain
Anyone have experiences using scavenge pumps to return the turbo's drained oil back to the engine? I'm at the design stage right now, and it'd be much simpler to mount the turbo at a point that's parallel with the oil pan, so gravity drain wouldn't work.
I'm considering mounting a small sump to the bottom of the turbo, then pumping it back with a scavenge pump. But, if the pump fails without me knowing, the oil will back up into the turbo and it'll be the next to go. Anyone have experience with them?
Here's a couple links of ones that are available:

Precision Turbo and Engine provides one in their Focus kit:

APS provides one in their 350Z/G35 single turbo kit:

Thanks for the help!!

My thoughts....good idea, but worried cause its more things to fail.
I would think it would be easier to buy a new manifold that places the turbo in a better location for a proper drain.
