Those of you with mid 200whp B16's...
I'm curious to know what your trap speeds are with the B16 tranny. I need a new tranny for the GSR and I've been scoping out B16 units for the nice tight gearing, but it dawned on me in the shower (all my good thinking comes in the bathroom for some reason ) that I may have to end the 1/4 mile in 5th and I really don't wanna do that on a stock motor.
I remembe crossing the timing towers in my Civic at ~110mph (100-102mph traps). Now that's 2500lbs and 217whp and relativley tall gearing. My thinking is now with super tight B16 gears, ~250whp and 2700lbs I may end up crossing around 115mph+ (107mph +/- trap?) which would have me hitting 5th by the end of the run. Make sense??
So any of you 99-00 Si guys with mild hp, what are you trapping and are you finding yourselves in 5th? Thanks

b16 trannys end around 110mph at the top of 4th. Most mild b-series guys i see are running no more than 105mph traps, so you'd be right at the end of 4th. Hope that helps.

haha Dave I was just thinking about that same question. I have a B18c1 in my 2400lbs car with me. I was thinking runing Lenso 13 with 22x7.5
This car is tuned with hondata and will be getting LSD with good mix of traction control parts.
I want to get a LS 5th in my GSR tranny. I don't want to do it if I will have to end up shifting into a LS 5th gear.
What do you all think?....
Should I do the GSR tranny with LS 5th? I'm guessing with good traction and drive traps would be about 110-115pmh?
I just DONT want to shift into 5th gear

Hrmm that's not gonna cut it for me
My 4th ends at about 122mph in the GS-R so I should be crossing the towers around 7500rpm, guess I'll stick with the GS-R then

haha, well, back when my motor was NA, i was running 20" dia slicks, and was pulling 98mph traps and that was boucing off the 8450 limiter in 5th once...lol, its an S1 tranny, short *** gearing and a 4.40 final. Def need larger slicks with turbo.
