I have installed type r diff's in two gsr trannies. My 94 had tapered bearings which we replaced with ones like you show when we installed the type r diff. the other was a 96 and the stock diff had the newer sealed non-tapered bearings. Iln both cases the type r diff's went right in with the newer bearings. hope this helps

I checked parts list and 98+ GSR's already have the sealed bearings.
I checked parts list on a 97 and it was the tapered ones. Check out the pic of my GSR differential to make sure you have a GSR tranny.
In conclusion. I thought they never put in the new bearings but they did, since I have the sealed bearings in it anyway. My car is a 99 GSR.
