Default Is there anyway a dyno could read wrong?

my friend makes about 260 whp, i went to the dyno and saw as they were tuning it.

so he is not lying. but he raced a stock GT the other day and they punched it at
around 20 mph, but my friend could not pull on the stang until like 4th gear.

so the question is, could dynos read wrong numbers? wtf is going on with my friends car?

he shifted at 4000 ?..i doubt that the dyno would read wrong and even if it did it prolly wouldnt be off by much. he should have taken the mustang

A lot of things have to be right to get correct readings from a dyno. Many dynos read wrong...

but still if the dyno was off say by 30-40 hp i would imagine that the 220 could still pull a stock mustang. my stock gsr hatch took a stock GT

Mustangs are unbeatable.

And yes every dyno is different. Pick up the latest issue of SCC mag.

Is your friend like, um...really large? 'Cause that could be slowing him down.

If its a dynojet, even with everything dialed in correctly, it will still read high. And trust me, a lot of the dynos out there are either not calibrated, or do not have properly trained operators.

Not to say that a dyno reading inaccurately is useless. As long as it is precise in its inaccuracy it is still useful. Depending on what you are using it for, it can be just as useful as a dyno that is reading accurately. It is not useful for comparing numbers with another dyno however. Precision and accuracy, you probably know this, but these two things are not the same thing...
