Default is there anyone using this type of fitting on their oil return?

the nissan t-28 turbo i got has a fitting, similar to the pic, that attaches to the flange of the turbo(pointed by the red arrow). the fitting is bolted to that flange with 2 bolts. the problem is, mine's leaking oil coz i see oil puddle on the bolts and traces of oil on the turbo as well.

i've put an asbestos gasket, those that you cut yourself, between the flange and fitting. is the asbestos gasket sufficient? what kind of gaskets are you guys using with this kind of oil return?

btw, the pic shows the oil feed part but the oil return is similar to it.

thanks.

it's not a paper gasket but it looks like a cardboard and can be cut by a scissor. it's made of asbestos. i guess i should look for a rubber type gasket. thanks

anymore opinions?

All of my drains have been like that, and I always used hondabond around the hole on both sides of the gasket. Never had a leak.

My friends turbo 2.5rs had the exact same leaking problem from the oil return flange. We went through about four different cut-out type paper gaskets and a whole bunch of different hoses but it would still leak. What we ended up doing was not using any gasket at all, butjust used ultra black rtv compound. You can find the stuff at any automotive store. It worked out great. Hes had the car running for about 6 months now and we havnt had leaking problem since we last worked on the car. Ohh yeah we even tried that spray on gasket stuff they sell but that stuff was crap and didnt hold up for long.

Just buy a real gasket for the return fitting. Turbonetics should have that bolt pattern for a metal gasket. They are usually all standard.

Im not sure if you can use a garrett oil drain gasket, but road race engineering sells them for $2.

I've done a few like that. Ideally I like to use a paper gasket with a little RTV on both sides. on my car I just use black rtv, no problems. The factory saab/volvo/dsm whatever gaskets all work well too.

You can get an oil drain fitting from flamenco-t on here or from Tunertoys.com
They are about $18 shipped and come with gasket and screws
