Re: Tell me about this Turbo
I'll find out,
is a .60 opening going to be too large and delay the spool?
Or too large for a dseries manifold designed for a T3?

Thats the compressor cover size, which has a must less impact on when it spools up. THe turbine cover inlet (blackish side) will have the number .63 or .48 cast inside the 4-bolt inlet, or somewhere near it outside. A .48ar cover would be a good match for a mostly stock d-series.

Okay thanks.
So if it is a .48 what do you think?
I have time, this is a school project, but I don't know if this is a good deal or not.

I think as long is there's nothing wrong with it and it's a name brand turbo I buy it. I think it will spool up great either way 48 or 63. If it's a .48 wheel it's good for 250hp

Re: Tell me about this Turbo
There a fun turbo for a D. I had one, sold it, it was a .48/.60, and just recently aquired another one. My first one was a junkyard style build, hf mani, dsm side mount, dsm injectors, and personaly tuned on uberdata. Hp, don't know, but i went 13.003 and a 13.004 on street tires in a gutted eg hatch. It went through about 5 track days too, no issues all on a stock block, so for that price, i say buy it and have fun.

Thanks for your opinion man, I think I am going to buy it.
Could you tell me a little bit more about your junkyard, how much did everything cost you, and how did you tune it yourself?

As for tuning, laptop, wideband, and lots of research. You can make a good basemap, that will run the car without issues. If your looking for the most power possible, and no hiccups, then you can head to a tuner, but it's defenetly possible to do it yourself. I also tuned a buddies car, same way, and his ran fine for two years also.
