Default Teflon tape needed on 3/8NPT fitting for oil drain?

I developed a slight leak on this fitting because it came loose, so Im redoing it. I noticed the Teflon tape I had on it sorta bunched up and when I put new tape on and screw it in, its starts to do the same thing. Does this fitting need the tape?

make sure u put it on the right way or it wont do **** when u thread it on..

sounds like u put it on backwards last time thats why it bunched up. or you put to much on.

u wanna wrap it clockwise so it doesnt unwravel it when u thread it on.

You should onlyt use thread sealant on tapered pipe thread. -AN and other flare fittings use NO SEALANT. Also, you should use liquit deflon rather than tape since the tape can get into the oil system and clog up small oil passages.

I have had excellent luck with blue locktite on pipe threads. It seals and helps prevent galling and is harmless to the oil system.I have seen restrictors plugged by pipe tape. And yes, don't use any sealant on AN fittings.Except on the pipe thread end.
