Techedge 1.5 w/ wb daily?
is anyone using the techedge 1.5 that allows u to use the 5 wire wideband o2 in place of ur stock o2 sensor? for me this would be much more convenient then getting a new bung put in but i am worried about the lifespan of the sensor if i am using it daily. i also have concerns with waiting in the "ON" position for awhile until the sensor heats up before starting the car. anyone currently running or have past experience with a similar setup have any opinions or feedback? i just picked up this 5-wire L1H1 sensor but if daily usage is just gonna kill it, i'll hafta either get another bung welded in or just sell this thing. thanks

Well people have them in the cars that they use daily, so i dont see why you cant. It mentions daily use of the wideband o2 on the techedge website... so i dont see why not.

yes, the v1.5 will work for daily driving. there is a 0-1v narrowband simulated output which you hook up to your ecu from the wideband controller. that way you ditch the old o2 sensor and its wires. i am running this setup and it works like stock, except i can always see my a/f ratio.

oh, sorry for the confusion if i caused any. i understand the u can get a simulated narrowband output so that u can use the wb for daily use and replace ur stock o2 sensor instead of having to add another bung. i'm just curious as to stories of the wideband having a shorter lifespan if used daily like this. i dont wanna get the techedge and display and everything and then have the sensor burn out on me in a coupla months. i suppose it should last due to the fact that it was included as a stock sensor for the vx, but then i was thinking the vx's are for economy and lean burn and we're running slightly richer boosted setups. also i've heard of how u should let the wb sensor heat up to operating temp before starting the engine. is this true?
hy keebler, is ur o2 located on ur dp or cat? where did u mount the box itself and display? thanks lots

All of my RX-7 friends use them and I will be using one in my teg after I rebuild it. The wide band has it's on heater but it might take a few seconds or so for the sensor to reach normal operating when started from COLD. The L1H1 has a life expectancy of 100k miles.

check the techedge site as far as placement is concerned. there are a lot of important tips they give that will make the sensor last very long. this includes the angle of the sensor and everything. i personally think the whole short life idea is BS, unless you arent treating it properly. also if you run like 100 octane i believe this is hard on it. but for average ratios of 12-13, i believe they will last awhile without troubles.
mine is located on my stock exh mani. sorry, i'm not turbo
the box is on the floor right by the firewall, behind the center console and stereo head. the display is temoporarily wedged perfectly between the top of the dash and the windshield, right in the center. i will mount it in a real location when i get time, and hid the cable, etc. its been installed since december and it works perfectly so far.

well techedges site suggests that the sensor be placed right before the cat and not too close to the turbo, and also says the sensor should be ideally vertical or between 10 and 2 o'clock. my greddy places the o2 on the dp nearly horizontal, which is exactly what they recommend not to do. i can agree that the 1.5 used in conjunction with an all motor setup should last fine, but i'm more interested in turbo applications and what pple here are doing and how they're setting it up
