Default TD-44u vs TD-68u OBD 1 DOHC VTEC

Guys,
When my obd1 GSR's original distributor decided to take a crap on me I sold it as junk and bought a TD-44u on ebay aftermarket for cheap. The thing was brand new and was like $120 to my door so i couldnt pass it up. It worked, but the timing was so far off, the most advance timing I could get out of it was like 8 degrees BTDC. The car was way slower than before so I drilled out the ears some and got another 2 degrees. I would like to buy another TD=68u but I have been told by many they are pretty much the same except for the cap.

Anybody else experience this when putting a td-44u on a obd-1 GSR?

Default Re: TD-44u vs TD-68u OBD 1 DOHC VTEC (B18C Turbo)

Yeah, I believe that TD-44 is for the b16's, and the TD-68 is for the gsr, but I thought they were interchangeable. I do know that the TD-44u is what I used for my obd0-obd1 ls/vtec turbo. So I don't know what to tell you other than try the TD-68.
