take a look at my bearings and tell me what you think
upon startup after replacing a leaking o ring on the fitting going to my fpr, i heard a small tick at idle that sped up with rpms, thinking that because of the leaky o ring i might have run lean and possibly trashed a bearing or something, i decided to pull the pan and check things out. the setup is a sleeved b18 w/ 84.5 wisecos and eagles and a 35r and the setup has approximately 2k miles on it. the main bearings are acl and the rod bearings are oems. after pulling the pan and all the rod and main caps, nothing looked too bad, the bearings look a little worn and it looks like i might have had some contaminated oil, but they are all smooth to the touch.
so now i'm wondering if it was piston slap, due to my .0045-.005 clearance, and my paranoia causing me to overreact. i'm gonna check my valve clearance next to see if i might have a loose valve or something.
let me know what you think

Those bearings look worn... i would def. say oil starvation or something of that nature
Look at the mains it wore ALOT of material off that oil index in the middle is gone lol

If you have the time i'd replace them now... maybe even go a little bit bigger on some of the ones that look more worn. That's a lot of wear for an engine with 2K on it.
P2W clearance isn't really that uncommon, I doubt it's the reason your bearings are wearing that fast.

i wasnt saying that the p2w clearance caused that, i was just saying because mine is larger i might have just been hearing piston slap and not a knock. well it obviously wasnt knocking because none of the bearings look that bad, so i'm hoping it was just piston slap and not something else.....

If it was a distinctive tap it wasn't piston slap. Piston slap sounds like a diesel.

since the engine is still in the car would plastigauging the bearings be too inaccurate because of the oil and whatnot, or should i give it a try?

Re: (.adam.)
Looks to me like u have debree in your oil. I would change your bearings. Not the fault of either oem or ACL, you just have particles in oil that have been drug through the bearings.

so even though these bearings look worn and have suffered from contaminated oil, do you think they are worn enough to be causing a knock?

measuring the clearances will the the only way to accurately answer that question.

Re: take a look at my bearings and tell me what you think (non-VTEC)
I have a set of brand new OEM Honda main bearings that I don't need. PM me tonight and I'll give you the part numbers/colors of them. Might work out...
