t3/to4e 57 trim .63a/r vs. 18G
I'm curious to know just how different these 2 turbos are in the spooling and peak horsepower departments are. I currently own an 18G and have the chance to pick up the 57 trim for fairly cheap, just don't know if it's worth swapping manifolds and spending the money for little to no difference in HP.

Without knowing details about your setup and the goals you hope to achieve, its hard to give you an answer...the 18g makes less power and thus, spools faster than the 57 trim as it is smaller

given the general rule of thumb, is it safe to say that one is good for about 500hp and the other about 400hp? if that's the case than i'm good with the greddy. would rather spend the money on some R comps and hook the current setup up to the street.

If youre thinking WHP. Then No that is not safe to say at all.
So instead of Turbo your just going to get Tires? Thats quite the budget difference. A turbo Setup Vs. Tires?

Re: t3/to4e 57 trim .63a/r vs. 18G
So I'll save my $700 make a reliable 350ish whp and get a set of toyo R comps for $500 and with the remaining $200 I'll booze. would much rather 350 and R comps over 400 and the UHP's I'm on now.
i suppose it's worth mentioning that the motor in question is a z6

^^Sounds like you got it sorted out. The 57 trim would allow you to break into the 400whp range...maybe as far as 450whp depending on the tune, setup, etc

On a SOHC you made 374 with a 41lbs/min turbo?
Also in reply too "If it was going to be a drastic increase in horsepower I would jump on it, but that doesn't seem to be the consensus here."
I would say 41 lbs vs. 51lbs is fairly close to be able to say drastic. The 57 trim would give significantly more power.
My mistake in previous post. I missed the part where u said you currently owned the 18g
Is it sleeved? if it isnt maybe just stick with what you got for a SOHC application

Re: t3/to4e 57 trim .63a/r vs. 18G
the motor isn't sleeved however fully built otherwise. as for my 18G upgrades, I've ditched the elbow a long time ago and run a 3" Vband to downpipe adapter which helps this thing breathe greatly and I now also run a 10psi turbosmart wastegate actuator which keeps it making boost for me well in to the 20-24psi range. previously i was on a ATP actuator at 14psi and it was hard to dial in boost pressures with boost by gear.
the first tuner i dealt with wasn't too savvy with the D series and thus didn't do much for my ignition timing which i believe is the leading cause of the death of my pistons, headlift, and the high amount of hp i made given my setup.
I'm now dealing with jeff evan and he's pretty confident that i'll be somewhere in the 350whp range while keeping everything safe. I've always enjoyed the way the 18G performs with my setup, car screams from a dig and pulls hard to readline. again i think i'd rather keep things relatively the same and spring for R comps. my goal for the car has pretty much always been something that can run low to mid 11's and also be fun on a road course.
definitely appreciate the input gents, i guess i did have things sort of figured out for myself and just wanted some good ol' H-T reassurance.
