Default T25 on stock y8 motor

Would a t25 turbo be good for a stock d16y8? The car will have bigger injectors and chipped ecu and a tune. But since the stock rods handle about 240-250hp would the t25 do the job? I know its a pretty small turbo, Realistically only wanting to make about 200-220. Woild the turbo be just about maxed out making those numbers? Just would be nice to merge onto the highway without having to floor it and turn the ac off to not get hit. Thanks

Depending on which T25 unit you use, you can easily make that power. The trick is finding a decent T25 flanged manifold for your Y8

A buddy of mine has one of those adapters t25 to t3 flange. J know there's always that possibility of a leak, but I would think it will still work

Make sure the T25 you get doesn't have a radius flange

I had a t25 on my Z6 motor it was lots of fun just not so great on the top end.... 1st-3rd it was real peppy. Never got it dynoed but it was prolly in the 200-220 range

250HP on a stock Dseries is not "safe" IMO

Edit: I was never able to nail down the specific turbo I beleive it came off a SR20 if that helps, Intercooler was a DSM sidemount spool was crazy fast much like a supercharger

Yes. But if not, it may have been a SAAB, or Volvo, which are usually in better shape

You'd be fine with a small dsm/volvo t25. Just go for 200whp and she'll chug along just great for daily driving and spirited driving.

Sounds good, what is a good safe amount of boost for these turbos? I know 6-7psi is a lot less power than that of a bigger turbo so what would be the best range? Don't they just about max out around 14-15 anyway?

That would be up to your tuner. He'll turn it up or down.
