Default T1 Tuned S2000: 30R vs 35R *415WHP*

I was turned by t1 back in april on a full-race/t1 setup on a 30R and made 403, recently i swapped my 30R to a 35R and retuned. Exact same spool time. Looks like the 30R is kind of a waste. Both turbo's were an .82 AR

Great mid-range pick-up!

Yea, if the spools are the same the 35 is mosdef better. You picked up a lot of area under the curve.

It actually looks like your 30R is missing a bit of power from 4.5k to 5.2k, such as your WG opened a bit early. If you made up for that, your spool time would be closer to that of Evans tuning. It also looks like the GT30 had some creep, further proof of a WG issue. Of course your statement assumes that there was zero changes besides that - the tuner (and his boldness that day), gas, temp, etc were all the same.

Personally I'd say this is impossible, since you can't physicly spool a larger diameter/heavier comp & turbine wheel faster with the same amount of exhaust gases, given the same design theory went into both (GT-series).

Regardless, in your case it looks like a good result.

was it a gt3076r or a gt3082r?

when i switched to a gt3076r from my gt35r i saw exactly what you would expect faster spool times, but it ran out of juice up top at higher boost levels.

It was a GT3082R aka GT3040R.

that makes more sense. from what ive seen the 3082 doesn't spools much faster than the gt3582r.

sorry to bump an old thread, but the 3082 is a really crappy turbo due to the giant mismatch from compressor to turbine wheel.. the 30R full-race kit actually performs like this

... MUCH better than the 3082

Agreed.. The only way to get somewhat useful powerband out of a GT3082 is to run a dinky exhaust housing; but that in turn, kills the power potential that the 82mm compressor wheel offers...lol

Nice graph to illustrate the difference... When I saw this thread, I was like WTF? No way a GT3582R can spool the same as a GT3076R.
