Surging Idle After Rebuild *urgent help needed*
Hey guys, Tried searching but it says the feature is down...
This is my quick story.
Motor is a D16Z6 in a 93 Hatch. T25 turbo'd on 8PSI tuned with Uberdata.
Basically, I blew the motor at 8PSI and cracked a ringland in cylinder #2. Stripped it down, salvaged what I could and rebuilt the entire thing.
Problem:
1. My idle is messed up. Cold AND warm idle are both ~1100rpm that surges to about 3000rpm then back down.
2. Response is fine when throttle is tapped.
3. When the IACV is unplugged, motor runs at 1300-1400rpm but makes a chug chug chug chug chug sound and its not a smooth idle at all.
Things I've done:
1. Compression Test - 180-170PSI all the way across. Little/No change with some oil put in + tested.
2. Double and triple checked all connections, wires, connectors etc etc.
3. Flushed coolant.
4. Tried a different set of 450CC injectors. Tried STOCK injectors with stock ECU.
5. Replaced the MAP with known working MAP.
6. Replaced the TPS with known working TPS.
Note: HG was reused after blown motor incident though it was coppersprayed when put back on.
Thats all I can think of for now.
Now, my friend who works on cars quite a bit says that this is caused by a blown headgasket. With the rad cap removed and the IACV unplugged, everytime the motor 'chugs' there is a bubble of air that comes out of the motor, could this be the exhaust/air going through the gasket and into the coolant?
What else can I do? I have 24 hours to get my car running before I have to go back to school and work and whatnot.
Please help

make sure the Throttle body isnt leaking(between intake manifold and gasket) ive had a problem with this before(using the wrong tb gasket) that was my problem, after i fixed that, the surging went away.
