supercharger lube question(jrsc specifically)
Hi,
pretty simple question,
how are superchargers lubricated?
i'm looking at buying a jrsc,
now I know turbos are oil lubed/cooled,
what about superchargers, from what i've seen from the parts you get,
and quickly glancing at the charts on the jr site, there arent any oil lines or anything,
or did I just glaze over something?
thanks!

Depends. Prochargers are PAG oil, Kenne Belle uses synth 50w, Vortec uses engine oil, and JRSC, got me there. Dunno. JR does that whole "the UN-twin screw" thing, so it'll probably be a close tolerance unit so I'd gamble on PAG, but don't quote me on it.

hmm.. really didnt understand most of that, heh.
dunno what pag oil or kenne belle or untwin screw are
but yeh, I guess what I basically need to know,
does the jrsc tap oil from the engines oil system, or do you "fill'er up" separately from the engine?
I would like to know what all that stuff you were talking about means too though,
the more knowledge the better I say

JRSC Eaton blowers are self contained units. They don't rely on the motor's oil. By design you shouldn't have to worry about its oil. But if you are leaking or what not you should be checking the JRSCs oil level and top off if needed. You can buy the SC oil from any Ford Dealership. The bad thing about it is I'm pretty sure you cannot checkthe JRSC oil level of most JRSC due to its mounting position in the car.

oh i see,
so frequent oilchanges of the sc are not neccessary,
but refilling it before installing a used one would be the thing to do?
or just leave it if its topped off and not leaking?

hmm, good idea,
i just might,
although I'd rather avoid dealing with a manufacturer if I can

GM Supercharger Oil is what you seek. I don't even own a supercharger and i've heard this a hundred times. They sell it @ any dealership.
