i am currently running a t3 super 60... spools super fast!!!... decent power all the way to redline but runs out of breath up top... so it all depends on you application... if you are running a b-series and looking for a really streetable turbo that is great off the line and the low-end... this is a great turbo... but, if you want more top-end power, then i think a t3/t4e would probably suit you better... if you are running a d-series then i think the t3 super 60 is an ideal turbo... so i guess it all depends on what you want to do... good luck and i am sure you will be happy with the turbo... i dont have any personal experience... but cheapturbo.com seems to be a very reputable seller (btw, when i upgrade turbos, i will be buying from him)... do a search... for cheapturbo.com...

i put my turbo setup together myself and I don't think I would go back and buy a kit.... this way you can get exactly what you want.... You just have to be careful if you buy stuff used.... My car had a turbo in it already but it was used and i leaked oil so it smoked a lot.... so i bought the super 60 turbo BRAND NEW.... but for the most part the other parts in my kit were used.... all together i probably spent (before the super 60) about 1500.... which isn't to bad..... i would have bought the t3/t4 or the t3/60-1 but they didn't have the one i wanted in stock and they were going to get it in, in like a day or two but i needed asap for this friday.....

... how much have i spent?... too much... hehehe...

... if i could go back in time though i would still go custom versus a kit, no doubt... but i wish i would have done more research and been more patient... i spent too much money on stuff that i now want replace/upgrade... on me for being to eager to join the darkside... ugh, lessons learned...

quick question if u can answer it...

i currently run a T3 60-trim (.60a/r compressor, .48 turbine, stage 1 wheel) with a tial wastegate. It's diff from the super 60. I get 6psi by like 4k rpm (mainly because no boost controller and i still have the stock cat on 2.5" dp and catback . My turbo is OLD. I'm wondering how a T3 Super 60 would compare to my T3 60-trim in terms of flow and would it be worth changing to a Super 60. And also this is on a stock block D16Y8... the most i will be running on the stock block is say 10psi until i decide to swap or build this motor.

EDIT:
Just saw the specs of the Super 60 on the site... how would this...
Compressor:
Super 60 wheel, .42 A/R housing
FLOW: 35LBS/MIN

Turbine:
68 TRIM WHEEL
.48 A/R housing

compare to mine:
T3 60-trim, .60 a/r compressor side
.48 turbine side w/ stage 1 wheel
saw a CFM flow chart said it flowed 490CFM

I don’t know how to do the whole quote thing so I just cut and paste when I had my kkk turbo on I was running 5lbs of boost with bald falken street tires. This time I’m running 8lbs of boost with the same tires and it’s way colder outside…. And for some reason I’m boosting 8lbs but before I changed the turbo I was only boosting 5lbs…. all I did was change the turbo ….. does anyone know why I’m boosting more now… I’m using the deltagate wastegate…. And I didn’t adjust anything, just changed turbos…

I'm not sure exacty whats different.... all i know is the turbo that i bought has a .48 a/r turbine housing and a .42 a/r compressor housing with a 60 or 68 trim wheel which has been "clipped".... that's what it's called i guess... But i like mine a lot.... it's almost at 5-6 lbs of boost by 2-3 grand.... it has a lot of low end... i love it.... If you give the guys at http://www.cheapturbo.com ask for ken and he'll tell you all that you need to know....

if it's an internally wastegated turbo, more than likely the spring in this one is an 8psi spring. Unless ur running an external or u have a boost controller

T3 super 60 is a straight T3 with a "super 60 trim" compressor wheel and T3 housing

a T3/60-1 is a T3 with a T04S compressor with a 60 trim wheel... not sure if it's a special "60-1" wheel or it's just denoted by 60 trim

has anyone used a t3 on a SOHC motor? If so how much could you boost safely and what motor was it?

I use a T3 60 trim (not the super 60) on my d16y8. So far i've only boosted 6psi, I'm sure the motor could hold about 10psi conservatively thinking... but u never really wanna "test ur limits" without proper tuning anyway, unless u like rebuilding motors.

The super 60 compressor can flow enough to make 275-300 whp.
the 60 trim slightly less.

You guys that are having 'top end' flow issues, otta try a .63 A/R turbine
housing. Yeah you have a little slower respone, but you'll flow
better on the top end. (you're resrticting the exhaust too much with
your current .48 housing)

Basically all the 1.8 and 2.0L VW guys stay away from the .48 turbine housing unless they intend to keep power below 200hp, want 'instant' response, or
bought a 'junkyard' turbo that already has it.
One or two of them has the .82 A/R housing, it spools late, but peak power is
made after 7000 rpm...(for drag racing apps)

Just my opinion
