sucked up some water last night
hey, last night i was driving and blew off an IC pipe. I figured i would just drive it home then fix it. It then started raining really hard, so i drove at really low RPM's the rest of the way. the car now seems to run fine it just idles really low and occasionally stalls out (even after changing the plugs)
I took the intercooler and pipes off and made sure they were all dry. Im now about to change the oil. What Else should i do? What do you think is wrong w/ the car?
btw it doesn't blow any smoke.. so i hope it's not too f*cked up

Re: sucked up some water last night (vtekthis)
Just did a compression test and teh numbers were all good. When i took the charge pipes off i had water at the very bottom where it popped of (Connecting to the intercooler).. but nothing up by the throtle body
It seems like the only problem is the really low idle.
Any other ideas?

nope, i changed the plugs like 3 or 4 times
I'm starting to think its an electrical problem. I now remember that i first noticed the weird idle about 5min's before it started raining.. right after I blew off the charge pipe (2nd gear pull). I blew the pipe off, drove about 2 miles, then at the first stop sign the idle was super low.
The reason i think it might be electrical is because when i start up the car there's no difference between warm up and regular idle... and my compression is fine
thanks for all the responses so far

Re: sucked up some water last night (LSVtechnologyturboboost)
alright, well I think the reason my idle is so messed up is because for some reason the cars running really rich now. Its turning the plugs black after a few min's. I had a new ignitor, so i put it in and nothing changed. I tested the voltage on the map sensor and it's fine. I pulled the vac. line off the map sensor and nothing was inside of it. One thing i noticed though is that when the car's running and i pinch off the vac. hose nothing changes.. it runs pretty much the same way when the hose is completely off the map sensor.
soooo any ideas as to what the hell is going on ?
thanks, al
a little more info:
2.5bar map
tuned w/ crome
obd1 ls vtec
new cap, rotor, ignitor, coil

Re: sucked up some water last night (type Gendy)
Same thing happened to me friday night...
Car was in like 3 feet of water, engine/intercooler filled with water and just shut off, electronics went crazy.
Cleaned everything out, let the car sit for a week, and now compression is the same, it does what you described as " when i start up the car there's no difference between warm up and regular idle... and my compression is fine"
BUMP
