stumped! boost guage reading off?? please look
ok this might be wierd or it could be normal.. i just noticed it yesterday..
i have an auto meter boost guage installed and it would read 18-20 vac at idle.. now all of a sudden it is reading 10-12 vac at idle.. im still on the vafc hack untill after i move out of my house this summer and can afford a better EMS.. the vafc reads -530 presure @ 750rpms at idle..
what would cause the auto meter guage to now to be off like that? vacuum leak? but if there was a leak wouldnt the vafc be off also, and its always read 530 if i remember right.. i have the fuel at -30 @ 1000rpms and -38 for everything else..
damnit i wish wasnt moving and had money to get this thing tuned better

1) double check for leaks
2) make sure gauge is functioning properly. Do you have another you can use or a friends?
what is the vac hose connected to? ie IM

im gonna go try to go over it this weekend and check for leaks..
do i need to use the white nylon tubing that comes w/ the guage or can i just use normal vacuum line hose???
i will get another guage from a friend that he isnt using now
and its connected to a vacuum manifold t-ed off at the brake booster

if you can, use some silicone lines...better quality.
drill a hole in your IM, tap it, use a barb fitting and use that for your vacuum. $.02

put in a new boost gauge and still the same.. so i look a look at the vacuum line going to the boost guage and it was cracked, replaced it and it all works great now.. back to -20 at idle...

FACT: if you drop, thump, bump, bang, or look at an Autometer boost gauge wrong, the needle (which is pressed on) will move.
My old Autometer boost gauge could be bumped into reading up to 15psi while holding it in your hand.

Yeah my gauge read -20 vac. and then like a month later it was reading -22 vac.

my autometer will not even go up into boost sometimes in 1st or second gear, and Its damn sure not still pulling a vac. I dont know you would think a company like autometer could get there crap straight.
