Default strange wear on several D-series cranks

In the past few days I had to disassemble several d-series blocks.

On all cranks of the five blocks I notices a small spot of wear.
These spots are 1/2" before the oil holes on the rod journal and roundabout as big as the oil hole in the rod bearing.
You can see it and can feel it with the fingernails.

Does somebody know what causes this?
Why is i only on the D-series cranks?
