Default Strange Oil leak from filter?

whats up guys i am having a strange problem with my civic. its a stock internal y8 with a turbonetics kit on it, makes like 190whp. the car runs awesome with no issues other than this leak. the rubber seal/gasket which comes on the oil filter is actually popping off and leaking. i start the car, and the filter gasket just blows out and the oil comes out at a high rate of speed. it sometimes takes a while for it to blow off, but never fails to do so. i havent driven the car more than a block since this started and the one time i did, it blew and i had to tow it home. unfortunately i do not have an oil pressure gauge hooked up at the moment but there are no knicks or anything around where the oil filter seats, so my only idea right now is that maybe the oil passage way at the oil pump is getting clogged up and raising the pressure, causing it to blow off. i am stumped on this so any help is appreciated. thanks a lot

have you checked to see if an old o ring is stuck on.
if so it will cause a high pressuare leak. also are you using a sandwich adapter?

yea no extra o-rings on there, and i do not have a sandwich adapter.
not sure what the oil filter quality comment is supposed to mean, everyone knows what a filter does.
either way thanks for the replies, anyone else have a suggestion?

Also Look at the threads that the oil filers screw on to .. If you shot off a couple filers. I would think the thread are worn down a bit..

Do you another motor you could score the oil fitler threaded part off of?

I would also guess that your making over 100 psi of pressure.. It take 100+ to blow them off.. factory vtec oil pumps are 70 to 90 psi on cold start up.

Also.. Do you have a catch can... Is your motor vented at the valve cover and the back of the block? Crank case pressure?

yea i plan to get an oil pressure gauge on it very soon. whats strange about it(pertaining to damaged threads), is that right when i bought the car, the oil had just been changed. I drove it occasionally for over two months without changing the oil before this happened.
the motor is not vented though and i do not have a catchcan. i thought with such a low-power, simple set-up it would not be necessary?
thanks again

also the first time it happened, i just changed the oil and put on a new filter thinking the filter had just gone bad. i drove the car for another two weeks or so before it happened again. then i changed the oil and filter for the 2nd time, and right when it started it blew.

i dotn have a sandwich adapter but i have heard of them leaking from some people. i dont think its common for them to leak though since so many people use them.

zero sludge in the motor as far as i can tell. i can really run anything in it since i cant start it lol.

get a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up and see whats going on with the oil pressure.

find one that goes up to around 150psi. i do believe cheap oil filters will blow apart internally around 120psi.......so you must be close to that if this keeps happening...

alrighty well my friends whose shop the car is at have been messing with it in their downtime. we took the pan off the otehr day, and found numerous amounts of metal (bearing i think) remains in the pan. i do not think the motor spun a bearing since it doesnt knock, ran great before hand, and has always been shut off immediately when this happens. what i do think is someone rebuilt the motor in the past, and did a terrible job of cleaning things up. i think somehow there are chunks of metal getting stuck in the oil pump, causing it to back up. next time i am over there, the pump is coming off and ill know for sure. im still not sure as to how the metal pieces got past the pickup, but they did i guess.
