Default A story you should read

I tried to go to the muffler shop today, the good one that I trust, to get a downpipe made, but they were too busy so I went to another one, "Rapid Muffler". Some fatass with plumber's crack lifted my car on the stands and took a 5 second look, then goes "Ohhhh boooooy... you need a new exhaust converter". "What?", I say, "No I don't". He continues to ramble on that I have no catalytic converter because my car doesn't come factory with one! He tries to act like he knows everything about my car, and he also "knows" that it comes turbo from the factory, and without a cat, and that I can ONLY order one through him for $500 because no one else is allowed to sell them. After I let him spew bullshit for 5 minutes I go, "Hey pal, take a look and what I'm pointing at", with my finger pointing at my cat, a few feet back from my turbo. He sees it and goes "Oh you must have put this turbo on yourself, I thought this was the factory turbo model!". Idiot. Anyway, he also said I can't get a downpipe for my car because they don't make a flange to fit my downpipe piece. Was that bullshit? I need some people kind enough (If you're turbo is off or have one off laying around) to take some pictures of their downpipe flange on the turbo so I can see if mine is the same size and if this guy was just BS'ing me. If I can't get a downpipe for this car I'm screwed..and since the piece on the turbo is cast iron, the guy said you can't weld onto it. Help me out guys, I'm a turbo newb. Thanks in advance.

What kind of turbo is it? You should be able to get a flange to match the exhaust side.

U can weld stainless steel onto cast iron. I've talked to many different welders and they said it can be done. The only downside is that the rods that they need to weld the two together are rather expensive. I didn't get an exact price per rod, but he just said it would be expensive and timely, but it could be done!

Pepboys tech said my car was a 96 civic ex when it was a 95 civic ex:
"Although it looks like a 92-95 civic, this car is a 96 and up generation because of the vin. Even if the engine says d16z6 and the body is the same as a 92-95, the vin says it's a 96 and I believe it is a 96 no matter what you tell me PERIOD." Then I wait for him to call honda and after,"It's a 95 civic ex, but you were only half right." I say,"In what way?!" Pepboys tech,"Let's just get on with our lives, I've been doing this for 27 years and I know what I am doing." I say,"Just give me my part." I HATE DUMB PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE SMART

Ahah like jeremy always tells me...

I love when you go to like autozone/kragen/checker auto/ or even the acura dealer and ask for a part. For example....

"I need to get 2 spindle nuts for a gen 3 integra."

"What year?"

"Pick one."

"What year is your car?"

"90-2001"

"Which is it, though?"

"Pick your favorite year, how about 1995"

I always get:

"Can you tell me if you have a belt in stock?"
"What car?"
"Its not a stock belt"
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing on the car from the factory uses the same size"
"Is this for your home?"
"No, its for my car...listen, the size is 315K4...can you see if its in stock?"
"What kind of car is it for sir!?!?!"
"Can I just come back there and look at the belts?"

Ahaha we just did that with spark plugs.

"I need some BKR7ES plugs"

"What car are they for?"

"Why?"

"Because I need to know the car."

"Well it isn't going to be the stock spark plug for the car."

"What car though?"

"It's an acura integra but it doesn't matter"

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I get crap everytime i walk into Honda. It took me 10 min. to get 4 nuts that go on top of the 99-00 SI strut tower bar. It took that long because the guy told me that the 99-00SI didnt have "what I call a strut tower bar." He got even more pissed when I told him it was off an acura integra.

I feel your pain, thats mainly the reason I still keep my partime job at the parts store here. Just because I enjoy finding parts for people that even the (hired for their people skills, yeah right)managers can't find or never heard of. the problem is they don't pay enough money for people that know what they're talking about, so the only people they can hire are high school students that don't know much(nothing against being young, gotta learn somehow). makes it hard to get the right part the first time. well just my two cents worth.
