just wondering around how much timing you stock sleeve b series guys are running around 400+whp on 93-104 octane. just curious and see how conservative some of you are with stock sleeves.

hmm. I run 18 deg base, and then retard per psi. I actually followed some good advice (from boosted-hybrid) and advance until i hit Max brake torque (i.e. when advancing timing does not produce any torque gain from the pevious pull), and when i reach that point, retard one deg. I gladly trade 5hp for conservative timing.

i definitely agree, that's how i always tune timing also. just curious b/c this will be the first 'high' hp stock sleeved motor i've really tuned, all other's have been fully built, or completely stock, and it just so happens this one's mine. just wondering what kind of timing i'll be looking at and how much you guys are pulling per psi in the higher boost. and yes, reliability>a couple hp any day!

In terms of step retard, I find that most ppl who are looking for reliability will pull a whole deg / PSI and then advance to find max brake torque. Thats very conservative but your engine will be pretty much "knock proof".
Lotsa guys are comfortable with .75*/ PSI however. I pull a whole deg cuz its my daily killer...i mean driver.
