I am turboing my vx at 6 psi and I was wondering if I could use a stock SI exhaust or would straight pipe coming out my pass side behind the front tire be better...I am trying to not spend much money at all cause we are seeing who can have the cheapest fast car with car included....Will straight pipe sound like garbage, will it be real loud will it lack performance...I will be runnuing a 14b with a dsm intercooler...

stock si exhaust is what just under 2" i think. if you run straight 3" with a muffler(except flowmaster) it will have a throaty sound but not too loud.

2.5 straight pipes will do you justice up to 250 WHP i would think. also depends on what size/make turbo you have.

well all i can tell you is at first i had a straight 3" pipe on my b16 and it was pretty loud then i put a flowmaster muffler on it and believe it or not it was louder, not much more but it was, then i put a borla muffler on it and it just has a throaty sound but a little calmer than the straight 3". im sure on a sohc with a turbo straight 2.5" wouldnt be that bad, beings the turbo does quiet it down quite a bit
