stock oil pump ok for high boost?
i was reading through one of those magazines lol. and there was this ugly integra that was boosted pretty decent. anyways reading though the article they stated that on teh dyno the oil light came on and they stopped and towed the car home and discovered the oil pump went bad, so they threw on a type r oil pump and went back to dyno and that went bad as well. they said when they switched to a after market oil pump like one of those external types they had no problems.
i read that he was only boosting about 12 psi and neted about 300 to the wheels. i am shooting for 450 to the wheels, do i need to be scared by reading that artice?
or are the stock oil pumps good enough? my motor only has about 40,000 miles on it so everyting is in pretty good condition. shoudl i be worried?

Re: (Silverhatch)
Ive always ran the stock oil pump. Never had any oiling issue for my vtec or oil feed line. Some run the prodrive oil pump gear but ive never used it myself.

yea thats what the guys in the magazine had to switch to because 2 of their stock oil pumps failed on them.
was this some kind of freak accident? i mean how many guys on this board are making over 400 tothe wheels o the stock oil pump?

I have heard that the use of unorthodox crank pulley can cause vibrations to the oil pump and brake it... I know the guys at Inline use the stock oil pumps on their 500+ hp engines w/ no prob

Like an improperly aligned crank. Or improperly sized main bearings.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Thats exactly what I was thinking. Building motors to factory tollerances and using an OEM harmonic balancer will greatly reduce the chance of having oil pump problems.
The OEM oil pump gear and prodrive gear debate is never ending. Most people use factory pumps with no problems. Others prefer to go aftermarket (as "potential" insurance).

man you have SUCH a shorter drive than I do to Inline Pro. I have to drive about 1hr 15 min down there... unfortunatly, most the time, I am towing my car down there.... Stan is always telling me to just stop by so they can look at my car, too bad I'm am over an hour away
